Name: Lauren
Age: Eighteen
Location: New Zealand
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Ethnicity: Norwegian/British - Can't you make me Japanese? Please!

Genre: Indie, Post-Punk, Trip Hop; anything alternative. It's difficult labelling my ears like that, they tend to do what they want and I just follow along...
5 bands: Death Cab, Interpol, Joy Division, Wilco, My Bloody Valentine
Favorite song: Radiohead - Talk Show Host
Favorite lyrics: I'm thinking it's a sign that the freckles in our eyes are mirror images and when we kiss they're perfectly alligned.

Movies: Donnie Darko, Wizard of Oz, Neverending Story, Waking Life, 24 Hour Party People, anything with really bad humour. Like Airplane!.
Food/Drink: I'm vegetarian, I adore vegetarian food. As for drink: I love soy chai latte, and champagne.
Books: The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay - I love the way it was written; Catcher In The Rye, because Salinger is a genius; Middlesex; Crime and Punishment. I haven't had the time or energy to read good literature lately, but i'm making an attempt at Slaughterhouse Five.
Hobbies: Photography, travelling - in any shape or form, good conversation with friends.
Color: light green & dark red.
Website: livejournal. And I found tetris online at warmtoastcafe.com, which makes it a pretty spectacular website.
Country: Sweden. Without a doubt. It's just such an awesome place. And Finland in the autumn; it's so flat and the colours are fantastic. I visited Finland last year, and one night up north we saw the northern lights. Big green sheets that just shimmered across the sky, it was so incredible.
Cartoon Character: I'm not big on cartoons at all. Patrick on Spongebob.

Controversial Issues

Birthcontrol/abortion: I'm not sure if we're talking about two different ideas here. I'm certainly not against birth control, I didn't think anyone was. I'm definately pro-choice, however I don't think that enough people are responsible about sex. I personally believe that if you're prepared to have sex then you should be prepared to face the consequences... that's the standard I set for myself, anyhow. I wouldn't judge anyone if they believed otherwise.
Death penalty: Difficult - we don't have the death penalty here. There are pros and cons either side. The context is always important.
Religion: I'm not religious, but each to his own. I don't think that i'm particularly un-spiritual; i'm just more of a humanist. And I don't think it's fair to pressure people into religion, religious propaganda upsets me as it's such a personal thing.
Homosexuality: It's completely natural. In fact, it's pretty fantastic. I think it's ridiculous that people would have anything against it, I just can't see the justification behind the discrimination. It could also save the world from the serious over-population problems we're likely to face in the near future.
Government: Necessary. Ours is fine. I have no real problem with the way things are running here. Once again, i'm not in a position to judge on the US government... but i'd rather live here.
Usa: The USA isn't in its prime at the moment, I guess. It's a perfectly nice place though. I would like to get up there again sometime soon.
Racism: Makes me sick. I notice it a lot, but since i've always belonged to a majority culture i've never been the victim of it, which I suppose to an extent makes me unaware of how bad it is.
Socio-economic classes: I'm unaware of any strong division between classes, our society is pretty much integrated. There's no severe poverty here, but apparently the gap between the "rich" and the "poor" is growing quite rapidly. It sucks, but for the most part i'm largely unaware of it and thus don't have a distinct attitude towards it.
Immigration: I live in a really diverse society, and I love it that way.

Future Profession/Plans: I'd like to work in the music industry. I'm studying media, so... wherever it takes me. Nothing's concrete, which I think is healthy. I'm going to travel a lot when I graduate. South East Asia again, east coast US, Southern Europe.
Where are you going to promote robotsarepretty: ...on my journal.
Make us laugh: How do you get Pikachu onto a bus? You Pokemon.
My brother made that up... it's so bad.
